What are the responsibilities and job description for the Incident Response Technician position at Harris County Toll Road Authority?
Incident Response Technician (IRT) pro actively patrols the Harris County Toll Road Authority maintained toll road system searching for stranded vehicles, debris, or any other potential traffic hazards which could impact our patron's safety or commute time. IRT also assists with the clearance of incidents, traffic control, and/or remediation of minor hazardous material spills.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Incident Response Technicians (IRT) Patrols the toll road system for any potential traffic hazards or stranded motorist.
- Change flat tires, perform minor vehicle repairs, give fuel and water.
- Tow vehicles to a safe location, transport stranded patrons, and maintain assigned equipment.
- Assist HCTRA Incident Management Team/Maintenance personal when needed by responding to incidents with assistance relating to traffic hazards, debris on roadway and minor hazardous material spills.
- Monitors assigned toll road areas on a daily basis by observing, identifying and attempting to remove/prevent potential safety hazards.
- Responds immediately to major incidents affecting the toll road's traffic movement as directed by the Incident Management Team or when necessary.
- Maintains necessary tools and equipment.

Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1-3 years' experience, successfully completes IRT training, ability to work assigned district with minimum supervision, completed NIMS training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Basic computer skills, good written and verbal communications.
Physical Demands:
Must be able to work in inclement weather conditions. Be able to lift/push/move 50 pounds.
