What you will do for Harris County Precinct 4 (HCP4)
Harris County Precinct 4 seeks a Bus Driver. This position drives vehicles to transport passengers over specified routes to local or distant points according to time schedule by performing the following duties. To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safety and security of all passengers to and from their destination.
- Communicates with passengers and assists with boarding and de-boarding the vehicle and loads/unloads any necessary equipment.
- Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passengers’ comfort.
- Complies with all traffic laws, maintains safe driving speeds and safe operation of the vehicle during all types of conditions.
- Reports delays and/or accidents.
- Reports any vehicle damage, mechanical, or electrical problems.
- Report any action taken to correct the problem.
- Report to work prior to trip to prepare for that day’s trip.
- Preparation includes inspecting the vehicle’s operable condition and completing the Driver’s Trip Report.
- Become familiar with the trip location(s) and/or read any necessary maps.
- Report to pick-up point to receive passengers 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.
- Responsible for returning the vehicle in a clean and operable condition.
- Upon return, refuel the vehicle, remove any trash, and prepare vehicle for the next trip.
- Washing, sweeping, and mopping of the vehicle is required.
- Refrains from using tobacco products while driving Precinct 4 vehicles.
- Record information and complete paperwork for daily trips.
- Submit receipts for driver’s meal/expenses to the trip coordinator upon completion of each trip.
- Assists at Precinct 4 functions as needed.
- When required, report to Tomball Service Center to perform minor clerical duties and assist in the office.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Education:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
Licensure:
Class B – CDL with passenger endorsement minimum
- A friendly, accommodating, and positive attitude.
- Ability to drive a bus for extended periods of time.
- Must have and maintain a good driving record.
- Knowledgeable of driving safety practices, traffic laws, and regulations.
- Ability to operate a bus under all driving and road conditions.
- Ability to follow navigation devices and/or read maps.
- Must attend CPR, AED, and First Aid training provided by Precinct 4 as instructed.
- Must have good verbal communication skills.
