Position Overview :
Within the Office of Planning and Innovation (OPI), the Grant Writer leads efforts to secure new and sustained funding for offices and divisions across Harris County Public Health (HCPH). This position is responsible for all aspects of grant funding research, proposal writing and editing, and application development. The Grant Writer will research and identify new local, state, federal, and private funding opportunities to advance existing and new HCPH programs and services. This position will collaborate with HCPH Offices and Divisions to draft and edit competitive grant proposal narratives and oversee the full application development process. The Grant Writer will also aid in developing documents and materials required for grant applications, and coordinate with HCPH officials to ensure the timely submission of complete application packages.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Research and identify new grants and funding opportunities to support public health programming at HCPH.
- Develop grant opportunity summaries to help HCPH Offices and Divisions thoroughly vet available funding opportunities and determine which to pursue.
- Write, edit, and produce compelling grant proposal narratives and required materials for each grant application pursuit, ensuring that the proposal is accurate and engaging.
- Oversee all aspects of grant application development, including creating the application timeline and work plan, drafting and reviewing materials, and collaborating with HCPH stakeholders on proposal budgets and other mandatory application documents.
- Request, analyze, and synthesize public health data to enhance grant proposals and applications.
- Coordinate with Harris County's Office of Court Administration to submit complete grant applications by their respective deadlines and complete other administrative tasks to facilitate grant application submission and award acceptance.
