Harris County Public Library (HCPL) - History : What began in 1921 and the years following as a collection of small libraries housed in stores, post offices and private homes has grown into a system of 26 branch buildings, 2 technology service centers, and 2 partner locations offering collection / circulation services. HCPL operates branches in unincorporated parts of Harris County and cities which do not have their own library systems.
What you will do at Harris County Public Library :
This position is responsible for developing programs for an adult audience. Provide customer service, reader’s advisory, and basic reference service. Exemplify the high standards and expectations for the library system in its daily operations and services.
Duties & Responsibilities :
- Provide customer service, reader’s advisory, and basic reference service within and beyond our walls.
- Promote library services to adults and the community.
- Collaborate with the branch team to develop, implement, and market programs in the library and community.
- Develop and maintain cooperative relationships with local / community organizations.
- Develop an engaging and attractive library collection.
- Attend staff meetings, activities, and / or professional conferences, and actively serve on committees.
- Other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with one (1) year of program experience (e.g., activities for all adults) and one (1) year of customer service experience.OR Associate degree in any field or 60 hours of secondary education credits from an accredited college or university with three (3) years of program experience (e.g., activities for all adults) and one (1) year of customer service experience.OR High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent with five (5) years of program experience (e.g., activities for all adults) and one (1) year of customer service experience.Additional Requirements :
