What You Will Do At Precinct One

The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for managing the daily schedules for community-building reservations. This includes monitoring reservations made in the booking system, assigning shifts, and supervising the responsibilities of Logistics Custodians (Logistics Tech). Additionally, the Logistics Coordinator will assist with special events involving the use of county buses or facilities.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and Manage Building Reservations Schedule:
  • Create weekly/monthly schedule to ensure all building reservations are covered by Logistics staff.
  • Provide on-call assistance and support to Logistics staff during reservations.
  • Communicate with Logistics Custodians and Constituents regarding community building scheduling and confirmations.
  • People Management: - Communication - Conflict Resolution - Problem Solving/Time Management - Patience - Accountability - Empathy - Delegation - Active Listening
  • Special Events:
    • Assist in coordinating special events, including the reservation of facilities, and arranging transportation by coordinating bus schedules. Move, set up, break down, and arrange furniture and equipment as requested.
    • Communicate with key stakeholders regarding special requests.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

What you will bring to Precinct One

Education:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution


Experience:

  • Three (3) years of related experience and administrative support in any or all of the following: hospitality, event planning, logistics, dispatching and general operations support.


Licensure:

  • Valid Texas State Driver's License


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft software applications which could include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and SharePoint
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple duties simultaneously.
  • Ability to speak clearly and effectively and present information to employer, visitors, and callers in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Knowledge of how to operate and maintain general building equipment.
  • Knowledge of modern cleaning methods, materials and equipment used for custodial work.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals, personnel rules, and regulations, operating and maintenance instructions.
  • People Management Skills: The ability to train, engage and retain people to optimize their talent and maximize their productivity.

Preferences

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (preferred)


Experience:

  • Experience with scheduling management software (i.e. Active Network, BusHive) (preferred)


Licensure:

  • Project Management Skills (preferred)
  • Commercial Driver’s License (preferred)

  • This job operates in a workstation in a professional office environment.
  • This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, and copiers.
  • This job will require use of county owned vehicles.
  • Frequent standing and bending. Lifting, pushing, and pulling of equipment, as needed.
  • Able to lift at least 20 pounds.

About Precinct One

There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners, along with an elected county judge, serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court, the administrative head of the county’s government.

With approximately 1.1 million residents, Harris County Precinct One is a diverse, urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct One’s multi-racial, multi-ethnic population is roughly 39 percent African American, 37 percent Latino, 18 percent Anglo, 5 percent Asian, and 1 percent other.

Precinct One, which includes 876 miles of road, stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precinct’s territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston, including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex, Toyota Center, Minute Maid Park, and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex, the renowned Texas Medical Center, Rice University, Texas Southern University, the University of Houston’s main and downtown campuses, and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One is home to more than 20 county parks, 11 community centers, numerous hike-and-bike trails, three maintenance service centers, and several area offices, all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.
