What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mental Health Court Clerk position at Harris County?
The Mental Health Clerk is responsible for handling and filing all paperwork regarding mental health for the Harris County Clerk's Office.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Answers phones regarding mental health and warrant information.
- Enters patient and applicant information into the computer.
- Proofs all paperwork before it is filed.
- Prepares dockets for court.
- Attends all court hearings for Probable Cause, Commitment and Chemical Dependency.
- Keeps a log of all warrants filed with the clerk’s office.
- Other duties as assigned at the discretion of the Director of Probate.

Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent from an accredited educational institution and
Minimum of one (1) year of paid clerical work experience.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic proficiency skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
- Must be detail oriented.
- Must have good prioritization and organizational skills.
- Ability to work as a team player and work well with others.
- Ability to work overtime without prior notification and work flexible hours as required.
- Ability to handle multiple phone lines and multi task.
- Ability to display Compassion and understanding.
