Position Overview:
Under the supervision of the Mosquito Surveillance Supervisor, the Mosquito Surveillance Technician collects and process field samples, assist in special and collaborative projects as required.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Conducts environmental surveys to identify appropriate habitats and seek permission from public and private properties for use of property.
- Sets and retrieves mosquito trapping devices from different habitats for collecting various mosquito species.
- Processes mosquito samples and prepares for identification.
- Assists in the preparation, use, and maintenance of field and laboratory surveillance material and equipment.
- Participates in the deployment and evaluation of novel surveillance trapping devices, methods and techniques.
- Assists in the preparation of all mosquito attractant for trapping purposes.
- Provides education and education materials to Harris County residents as required.

Education
- High school diploma or equivalent
Licensure:
- Valid Texas Driver's License upon hired along with a good driving record.

- At least one (1) year in mosquito control operations.
Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:
- This is a regular - full time position.
- Up to 40 hours per week.
- Days and hours may vary based on the operation needs.
Work Environment:
- This job operates in a both: office and field environment.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift 70 lbs., be in good physical health, able to tolerate high heat and humidity for extended periods of time outdoors while working in a variety of urban and natural environments.
