Position Overview: 

Under general supervision, the Logistics Supervisor will supervise the public health preparedness warehouse and logistics team. Individuals in this position will be responsible for overseeing inventory management, logistical planning, equipment maintenance, vendor coordination, and fleet readiness. In addition, this role ensures that all public health response assets are appropriately maintained, accurately tracked, and readily available for exercises and emergency deployment.

 

The Logistics Supervisor must possess excellent leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively oversee the division's logistics operations.

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Logistics Management: Maintains 24/7 public health response asset readiness in alignment with PHPRD programs and plans by overseeing warehouse management, inventory control, and equipment and fleet maintenance, and developing protocols for regular maintenance, testing, and calibration of equipment used in public health exercises and responses.
  • Inventory Control: Oversees the accurate tracking and management of all inventory by implementing processes for receiving, storing, and distributing public health response assets. In addition, conducts regular audits, including an annual review of the GC-11, and collaborates with the PHP Operations Manager to strategically replenish, repair, and maintain inventory.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensures all warehouse operations are in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and safety protocols, including operating equipment and handling and storing hazardous materials.
  • Team Supervision: Supervises the daily operations of logistical staff, which includes the Logistics Coordinator, Inventory Specialist, and temporary employees. Tasks include providing strategic and operational direction, conducting performance evaluations, and delivering training to ensure the team is cross-trained and capable of handling all logistical functions.
  • Policy & Procedures: Assists with developing policies and procedures to facilitate response operations, including requests for information (RFI), disaster finance, procurement, and administrative preparedness.
  • Additional Tasks: Performs other duties as assigned including but not limited to, acting in a lead logistical role during public health emergency events, developing logistical plans, and supporting all-hazard public health emergency preparedness training and exercises.
  • Vendor Relationships: Identifies and collaborates with vendors for equipment procurement, maintenance, and repairs, fostering partnerships that support the division's operational readiness.

Required Education / Experience

Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university and three (3) years of experience in public health, warehouse management, inventory management, or logistics.

OR

High school diploma or equivalent and seven (7) years of experience in public health, warehouse management, inventory management, or logistics.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of supply chain management, logistics planning, and inventory management.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively with strong organizational skills, especially under adverse conditions.
  • Ability to operate warehouse equipment, trucks, and trailers
  • Must have moderate mechanical skills.

Position Type, and Typical Hours of Work:

  • Full-Time
  • Monday – Friday | 8 am – 5 pm
  • May be required to work long and irregular hours, possibly a minimum of 96 hours, including weekends and holidays, in circumstances of a public health or infectious disease emergency or potential for such.

 

Work Environment:   

  • This role primarily operates in a warehouse with standard machinery and equipment such as trucks, trailers, and forklifts. The role will be required to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment during public health emergency events. Response, training, and exercise activities could be outdoors or in a warehouse with various public health response equipment.
  • The role will also operate in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment.

 

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs., walk up two flights of stairs, and work in the field when required.
