Position Overview:
Harris County Universal Services is searching for a Technical Writer to join our training team. Under direction of the Training Manager, this role plays a critical part in empowering our training team by creating comprehensive, user-centric documentation that enhances learning experiences and operational effectiveness. Collaborating closely with subject matter experts and training specialists, they develop robust educational materials, including detailed training guides, instructional reference documents, process workflows, and step-by-step work instructions.
Responsibilities:
Conducts interviews and reviews with stakeholders to gather data to complete projects.
Collaborates closely with the training specialists to develop comprehensive training materials, including user manuals, quick reference guides, instructional documentation and training audio/video scripts.
Write and edit business process documentation such as policies, standard operating procedures, reports, templates, intranet site, help sections, and flow charts.
Thoroughly research written work to ensure all information included is factually accurate and utilize expert-level formatting abilities.
Edit, standardize, and/or make changes to material prepared by other writers or personnel.
Maintain records, files of work and revisions and consider new technologies adopted in the industry including a style-guide.
Support real-time training events in the form of documentation creation.

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Technical Communications or equivalent.
Experience:
3 - 5 verifiable years of experience in a technical writing role.
Be able to deliver perfect body of work without spelling or grammatical errors.
Dedicated work ethic with a commitment to customer experience excellence.
Knowledge, Skill & Abilities (KSA's):
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work well with various teams.
Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines while maintaining attention to detail and quality of work.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
The ability to interact with staff at all levels.
Strong knowledge of personal computers and various software, specifically Adobe Editor and Microsoft Office Suite as well as Microsoft (SharePoint, Visio and PowerPoint).
Highly capable of adapting to change

Work Arrangement:
