Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Mason Tender to support our masonry team on various construction projects. The Mason Tender will assist in the preparation and handling of materials, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and safely. This role requires a strong work ethic, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced construction environment.
Responsibilities
- Material Handling: Transport and stage bricks, blocks, mortar, and other materials for masons.
- Mixing Mortar: Prepare and mix mortar or cement to the correct consistency.
- Worksite Preparation: Set up scaffolding, move heavy materials, and prepare the job site for masonry work.
- Tool Maintenance: Clean and maintain masonry tools, including trowels, levels, and mixing equipment.
- Debris Removal: Clear away excess materials, broken bricks, and other debris to keep the work area clean and safe.
- Scaffolding Assistance: Assist in erecting and dismantling scaffolding for masonry projects.
- Lifting and Carrying: Transport heavy materials and tools around the job site as needed.
- Supporting Masons: Provide general labor support to masons, ensuring they have the necessary supplies and assistance to complete tasks efficiently.
- Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and adhere to job site safety regulations.
Physical & Manual Skills
- Physical Stamina & Strength – Ability to lift and carry heavy materials (bricks, blocks, cement bags, etc.).
- Dexterity & Hand-Eye Coordination – Handling tools, mixing materials, and assisting masons with precision.
- Endurance – Ability to work long hours in physically demanding conditions.
Technical Skills
- Material Mixing & Handling – Properly mixing mortar, cement, and other materials to required consistency.
- Basic Measurements & Math – Measuring bricks, blocks, and mortar levels accurately.
- Scaffolding Knowledge – Assisting in setting up and dismantling scaffolding safely.
- Tool Use & Maintenance – Proper use and upkeep of trowels, levels, mixing tools, and safety equipment.
