Greets visitors and communicates with patients and providers.
Coordinates work flow and complies records of office activities.
Completes all aspects of check-in/check-out process.
Enters and updates patient demographics and insurance information.
Collects any copay/coinsurance balances for current visit and any outstanding balance from patients.
Complete pre-appointment checklists and prepares accordingly.
Places, answers, and directs phone calls and distributes messages. Including retrieval and distribution of answering service messages.
Keeps office area neat and tidy.
Monitors and maintains log of needed office supplies.
Handles information requests, including reviewing files and records, answering inquiries, and responding to incoming work requests.
Monitors and addresses all front office task buckets in a timely manner.
Schedule referrals for patients to be seen by other physicians/specialists as ordered. Send all records needed and notify patient as needed.
Completes other tasks, within scope of position, as delegated by the practice leads, supervisors, managers and Market director.
Surgery Scheduler
Schedules all surgical procedures and radiologic procedures ordered by physicians. Completes required documents: order, consent, insurance/authorization, coding for procedures and diagnosis codes, medical chart for hospital. Sets up pre/post-op appointment and meets with patient to complete all required paperwork.
Prior Authorization/Precertification
Code for all surgeries and radiologic procedures. Call patient's insurance company to verify coverage and benefits; check for prior authorization/precertification requirements prior to any surgery or radiologic procedure. Send required information with all orders. Arrange peer-to-peer review when necessary.
Minimum Education
Minimum Work Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent - Preferred
Medical Front Office Experience Preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.

Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
