POSITION SUMMARY

Directs the activities and resources of the nursing divisions of Harris Regional Hospital and Swain Community Hospital, to ensure alignment with the mission, values, and objectives of the organization. Participates in the development of strategic plans by assisting in development of specific objectives and achieving the plan goals.

Essential Functions :

Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical,

administrative, legal, and ethical requirements / objectives of the organization.

Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives.

Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives.

Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding.

Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth.

Ensures departments stays focused on their important role in the continuum of care.

Assists in administration and coordination of long- and short-range planning activities. Develops strategic planning, operational and financial goals, objectives, policies and procedures.

Performance review includes recognition of active participation in briefs, debriefs, huddles, learning boards, and executive patient safety rounds.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, an equivalent combination of experience, education and training which provides the necessary knowledge skills and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and / or regulatory requirements.

Minimum Education : Bachelor’s degree required. Master's degree preferred.

Required Licenses : Current NC nursing license.

Current AHA BLS required.

Minimum Work Experience : Minimum five years in healthcare management or related field

Required Skills : Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
