Job Description
The Production Planning/Inventory Control Manager is responsible for the strategic and tactical planning of finished goods inventories. The PPIC Manager works to achieve both customer and Harris Spice business objectives. By interacting with the cross functional team (including but not limited to Customer Service, Sales, Demand Planning, Marketing, Manufacturing, Purchasing, Logistics, S&R, Finance and Co-Packers) the PPIC Manager anticipates/identifies/resolves potential supply issues for Harris Spice’ Products. The person in this role is responsible for operational demand creation, finished goods manufacturing planning, production lead times, on-time-delivery as well as for strategic planning and management of inventory.
Key Responsibilities
· Production forecast and planning, balancing the supply & demand to fulfill customer orders.
· Own and drive ongoing production and materials purchase plans engaging functional team as needed to balance supply & demand.
· Help establish/maintain MRP/ERP planning parameters and master data to continuously improve and optimize planning system to ensure production plans meet customer requirements at the lowest possible cost.
· Monitor adherence to sales plan, working with the manufacturing Team and materials suppliers to resolve issues that arise.
· Communicate finished goods availability dates, based on the production plan, to Sales and Customer Service.
· Identify potential supply gaps and proactively engage the supply chain and Commercial teams in finding solutions and communicating latest supply outlooks.
· In coordination with Production, maintain appropriate finished goods inventory levels including seasonal inventory targets.
· Report WOS inventory outlooks for continuous and seasonal packed items, highlighting projected surplus and shorts over the planning horizon.
· Identify projected surplus and short items, interacting with cross functional efforts to propose actions to get back in supply/demand balance through the appropriate planning horizon.
· Report projected aged and obsolete inventory. Partner with CS, Sales, Manufacturing and Quality Departments to set a plan to use or dispose SLOB inventory.
· For all new product seasonal pack launches, work collaboratively with the cross functional team as the key supply chain resource in planning for and supporting of new item launches into the Marketplace.
· Propose, manage and report KPIs internally and towards corporate functions.
· Other duties as assigned.
Organizational Relationships
· This position reports to the VP of Supply Chain and Operations.
· This position has one direct report (Production Planning Manager)
Requirements and Qualifications
· Results oriented leader with strong verbal, written and comprehension communication skills.
· Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
· Proven analytical skills, using data and insights to drive business performance.
· BA/BS in Supply Chain Management, Business or Logistics Management.
· MRP/ERP systems Champion. Proven experience and knowledge in such systems.
· Minimum 5 years of related experience. 3-5 years of production planning experience with responsibility of supply demand balancing and inventory management for a broad portfolio of SKU’s.
· Consumer products, retail, or mass merchandising experience is a plus. CPG experience is highly desired.
· Ability to work under significant pressure, addressing simultaneous responsibilities and deadlines with minimal guidance.
