Production Supervisor

Responsible for the product quality, food safety and regulatory compliance for goods manufactured in the facility. The Production Shift Manager is responsible for managing and directing all personnel and resources in the production area to effectively and efficiently fulfill customer expectations in a cost-effective manner.

Major Duties & Responsibilities for this position include:

• Oversees production team during the shift to assure finished goods production is complete and handed off to warehouse in shippable format.
• Interfaces with parts room, Engineering and maintenance staff to ensure that parts are received timely, workable, and with acceptable quality to prevent downtime on the production floor.
• Manages waste reduction program.
• Works with HR to evaluate potential candidates for possible fit and hire as well as promotability of current staff.
• Determines outstanding needs for projects and makes decisions regarding the appropriate use of resources to accomplish production and budget goals.
• Works with Line managers, Production Manager and Production planning to establish OT needs each week.
• Works with Production Manager, Line Managers and production planning to establish ongoing production issues, requirements, shortfalls, and create solutions to solve these issues.
• Coordinates with Human Resources to correctly administer the contract, resolve grievances and consistently administer disciplinary actions.
• Attends weekly Production planning meeting.
• Actively plans and participates in negotiating process as part of the bargaining team.
• Motivates bargaining unit employees to meet and improve on efficiencies, reduce machine downtime and increase quality.
• Maintains a balanced and adequately trained workforce to meet the production schedule.
• Develops and maintains relationships with outside vendors to be able to address operational needs or issues.
• Works closely with Engineering and Maintenance to achieve long-term operational goals.

Skills & Qualifications:

• 5 years of experience in Production Management in a high-speed manufacturing operation.
• Minimum 5-8 years managing 10 or more direct reports in the areas of production, quality.
• Waste control experience a must.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Must have outstanding verbal and written communications, and mathematical skills.
• Experience with food safety requirement such as GMP Standards, HACCP and BRC Certification preferred but not required.
• Union Experience is a plus.

Working Conditions:

Works in a climate-controlled production environment, with time spent in adjoining warehouse and office areas as needed. Must be able to tolerate noise and dust associated with production equipment.

Physical Requirements:

Job requires the ability to stand and walk for 8-10 hours/day in order to monitor production.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
