Maintenance Technician

POSITION SUMMARY:

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Maintenance lead tech at the East Shore Branch YMCA intentionally fosters a cause-centered culture that is welcoming, genuine, hopeful, nurturing, and determined while also overseeing the maintenance and improvement of the East Shore YMCA facilities and vehicles.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Performs routine facility maintenance including lawn maintenance, trimming shrubs, edging and mulching with the team.

· With the support of the Maintenance Director, the Maintenance Tech will be a hands team member to ensure all facility and equipment needs are addressed in a timely manner.

· Carries out preventative maintenance schedules as assigned.

· Anticipates risk, implications, and possible outcomes before taking action.

· Completes repair work and projects in a timely manner.

· Conducts in-house inspections such as fire, health, building depts., etc. to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.

· Required to obtain Pesticide Tech Cert within 90 days of employment.

· Participates with the management team in YMCA Annual Campaign.

· Have reliable transportation to arrive and conduct snow removal in a timely manner.

· Required to be able to respond to maintenance emergencies as scheduled. We have a rotating on call schedule typically one week a month.

· Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Maintenance Director.

YMCA COMPETENCIES – TEAM LEADER:

QUALIFICATIONS:

· Associates Degree in a related technical field required; minimum 2 years of industry experience with carpentry and/or facility management activities, is preferred and may substitute for associates degree.

· Demonstrable knowledge and experience with maintenance and housekeeping practices.

· YMCA Team Leader certification preferred or willingness to obtain within a year of employment.

· CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of hire.

· Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance-related areas.

· Pool and boiler experience preferred.

· Possess a high level of initiative and proactivity, competency professionalism, a positive attitude and enjoy working in and supporting a strong team environment.

· Ability and current license to drive with a record that meets YMCA standards.

· Familiarity with personal computers.

· Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

Employees and volunteers who do not directly supervise consumers will:

· Adhere to policies related to boundaries with consumers.

· Attend required abuse risk management training.

· Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.

· Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.

· Adhere to job specific abuse risk management responsibilities.

Maintenance employees and volunteers—ensure unused rooms and closed rooms remain locked; routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker rooms and bathrooms), etc.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
