POSITION: Middle School Counselor 25/26 SY
Harrisburg operates on a 4-day school week M-TH. Work days and hours are flexible for this position, which means it is possible to personalize work times and days.
COMPENSATION: $44,038- $86,354
Placement on the salary schedule will be commensurate with education, experience, and work schedule. District policy GCBA will be implemented.

Job Overview:
The Middle School Counselor will provide comprehensive support services to students in grades 5-8. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in counseling, excellent communication skills, and a passion for helping young adolescents navigate the challenges of middle school. The counselor will work closely with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to promote student success and well-being.
Responsibilities: The following is not a comprehensive list of duties.
- Provide individual and group counseling to students on academic, personal, social, and emotional issues.
- Develop and implement programs to support students' mental health and well-being.
- Assist students in setting academic and career goals and create plans to achieve them.
- Collaborate with teachers and administrators to identify and address student needs.
- Complete assessments and provide referrals to outside resources when necessary.
- Conduct workshops on relevant topics such as bullying prevention, conflict resolution, and stress management.
- Maintain accurate records and confidentiality of student information.
- Participate in parent-teacher conferences and guide parents in supporting their child's development.
- Contribute to a positive school culture through proactive initiatives and involvement in school activities.
- Complete and facilitate student 504 plans.
- Attend IEP meetings when needed.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in School Counseling or a related field.
- Valid state certification as a School Counselor.
- Previous experience working with middle school students is preferred.
- Strong understanding of adolescent development and the unique challenges faced by middle school students.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
