Responsibilities :
Harrisburg University of Science and Technology is seeking2part-timeOil & Gas Subject Matter Experts to support the Center for Applied Environmental & Geospatial Technology's work on a well identification project through the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP).These positions will report directly to the Center's Director, but one expert will work closely with Consultants Robert Wilson and Dr. John Benhart to ensure project goals are met, while the other expert will work closely with Chelsea Gordon-Reynolds to ensure the same end. Additionally, the Oil & Gas Well Subject Matter Experts will interact directly with Undergraduate Technicians, Part-Time GeoTechnician I's, and other full-time staff at Harrisburg University. The Oil & Gas Subject Matter Experts will provide Quality Control on the work completed by the Undergraduate Technicians (one expert) and Part-Time GeoTechnician I's(one expert).This work will involve digitizing and attributing oil and gas well features that are found on maps of underground abandoned coal mines throughout the state of Pennsylvania, as well as features on other non-mine maps that will be provided by DEP. In addition to providing Quality Control, the Oil & Gas Well Subject Matter Experts will be available to provide expertise on differing well types found on complex maps that Undergraduate Technicians, Part-Time GeoTechnician I's, and full-time staff may have questions on. All work conducted by the Oil & Gas Well Subject Matter Experts will be monitored by both the Center Director, Craig Lewis, and Bob Wilson. Finally, the Oil & Gas Well Subject Matter Experts will work closely with the Center's Director to ensure that milestones are being met in order to provide valuable deliverables to the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection.
Qualifications : Required :
Bachelor's degree in environmental science, geography, or related field, with extensive coursework in GIS / Geospatial Technology
Minimum3 years' experience with Arc GIS software in a professional environment (1 Yearsof ArcGIS Pro required)
Familiarity with historic map collections-specifically underground mine maps
Familiarity with oil and gas well terminology
Familiarity with historic mine terminology
Comfortable with a dynamic environment that sometimes requires independent and repetitive work and other times requires multi-tasking and working in a team environment
Ability to create detailed geospatial data with appropriate attributes
Experience performing, or willingness to learn, measures of quality control in a GIS setting
Demonstratedabilitytointerpretanddocumentprojectrequirementswith external clients and contribute to grant / project proposals
Willingness to partake and facilitate client kickoff and update meeting
