Job Description: Physician Assistant (PA) / Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN)
Department: HCCH Medical Staff
FLSA Classification: Exempt
Employment Status: Full-Time
Location: Harrison County Community Hospital District (HCCHD)
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)
Job Summary/Objective:
The PA/APRN will provide comprehensive healthcare services to patients in a clinical setting, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. They will demonstrate a high level of clinical expertise in managing patients with acute and chronic illnesses, performing physical exams, diagnose and treat medical conditions, perform therapeutic procedures, and assess patient care needs.
Essential Functions/Duties/Responsibilities:
• Perform physical examinations and health assessments of patients in the clinic.
• Order and interpret lab work, diagnostic tests, and x-ray examinations according to physician guidelines.
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as determined by established protocols.
• Prescribe medications and treatments within the scope of practice and state licensure.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to develop treatment plans.
• Provide health education and counseling to patients and their families regarding preventive care, treatment options, and wellness management.
• Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Review and discuss patient progress, response to treatment, and make adjustments as needed.
• Adhere to the policies and procedures of the clinic and comply with state and federal regulations.
• Attend clinic meetings and participate in continuing education to remain current with medical trends and standards of care.
• Assist in developing patient care protocols and guidelines to enhance clinical care
Skills / Abilities:
• Strong clinical knowledge and expertise.
• Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Proficiency in using electronic medical records and standard office software.
• Knowledge of healthcare regulations and clinical procedures.
Education, Certificates, and License:
Education:
• Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies or Nursing or graduate from an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Certificates / License:
• Current state licensure as a PA or APRN.
• BLS certification or ability to obtain within 30 days.
Experience:
• Minimum of 1 year of clinical experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
• Lifting: Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.
• Mobility: Ability to stand, walk, and move around the patient care area for extended periods.
• Posture: Ability to bend, kneel, and perform physical assessments.
• Dexterity: Adequate motor skills for performing medical procedures and operating equipment.
