Purpose: The full-time Safety Representative is responsible for overseeing industrial electrical construction projects. This position will be responsible for construction safety and health and environmental protection programs in order to minimize the potential for accidents, injuries or damage. Initially it is expected applicant will perform 2/3rds of their time managing safety with balance supporting other office functions.
Duties:
- Evaluating and assessing various job sites in order to identify potential safety hazards, including such things as fall hazards, potential exposure to chemicals and materials, etc.
- Preparing and evaluating health and safety guidelines in order to minimize accidents, injuries or other damage.
- Providing safety training to company personnel.
- Conducting/Coordinating onsite safety meetings.
- Monitoring construction sites and ensuring compliance with company procedures as well as government regulations, acts and standards.
- Promoting proactive and preventative safety activities by observing, analyzing, and encouraging safe work behavior and correcting unsafe conditions.
- Investigating injuries and near misses and initiating necessary actions in order to ensure the situations are not repeated.
- Documenting trainings, meetings and investigations.
- Performing administrative tasks in support of the general purpose of the organization.
- Performing other duties as required by the position.
Skills and Educational Requirements: To perform the job successfully, the applicant should have the following background and demonstrate the following competencies:
- At least 5 years of construction experience required, preferably in the electrical field.
- An Associate’s Degree or greater in Safety Management, Construction Management, or a related field preferred.
- Certification in safety and/or risk management as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Associate of Risk Management (ARM) a plus.
- Strong organizing, planning and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to analyze and understand safety/health policies and principles.
- Ability to analyze risk and exposures.
- Understanding of construction sites and culture.
- Willingness to travel between home office to various projects sites within the southeastern US.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships between employees, customer representatives and government agencies.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft MS Office suite of products.

Environment: Some work is performed in an office setting but the majority of work is done on job sites, where there often is exposure to noise, chemicals, the elements, uneven surfaces and other hazardous situations. Most job sites are located in southeastern US. Per diem included
Physical Demands: Requires the ability to communicate in person, over the phone and via electronic means. Must be able to walk on uneven surfaces, climb, stoop, stand for long periods of time, and see and hear in order to conduct thorough investigations.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.48 - $31.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 – 60 per week
