Job Summary:
As the instructional leader, responsible for increasing student achievement at the assigned school by implementing a standards-based instructional program aligned to curriculum and by managing school site operations and personnel in accordance with Board of Education policies. Promote strong relations and partnerships among school, parents, students, community, and stakeholders.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement a standards-based instructional program aligned to curriculum.
Oversee student attendance, including monitoring and counseling truant and at-risk students; conferring with students, parents, teachers, and counselors; and working with law enforcement officers/officials on matters of school attendance.
Evaluate, appraise, mentor, monitor, and provide feedback to certified staff and educational support personnel to support planning, instruction, engagement, and assessment. Provide leadership for the professional growth of the staff through in-service programs, goal development and monitoring, and recommendation and support of educational/training opportunities.
Oversee student discipline, including investigating incidents; administering appropriate consequences; creating and maintaining discipline records; and conferring with students, parents, teachers, counselors, community members, and law enforcement officers/officials on matters of discipline.
Analyze student achievement through assessment data, make recommendations for maintenance and/or improvement, and communicate changes with stakeholders. Oversee the development and administration of guidelines and procedures for student achievement, growth, special recognition, and Response to Intervention (RTI).
Respond to parent, student, stakeholder, and community concerns/questions and promote positive public relations. Encourage school/parent/student/community partnerships in providing for the educational needs of the student.
Make recommendations for appropriate revisions of policies and rules affecting student life and welfare at the school.
Ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff at all times, including overseeing the development and implementation of crisis prevention and procedures; overseeing the physical plant and grounds; overseeing the planning and implementation of fire and disaster drills and other emergency procedures.
Actively participate in professional organizations, committees, and professional development opportunities.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Directly supervises certified teachers and educational support personnel (e.g., secretarial, clerical, paraprofessional, maintenance, custodial, and/or security personnel) at assigned school.
Advanced oral and written communication, English language, interpersonal relations, customer service, public relations, critical thinking, problem solving, organizational, and supervisory/management skills.
Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations regarding student discipline, bullying, sexual harassment, etc.
Knowledge of student behavior management techniques.
Ability to diffuse and manage volatile and stressful situations.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally an in writing.
Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and multiple priorities.
Successful experience working with children at risk.
Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
Certification/License:
Valid Colorado Teacher’s License
Possess or be eligible for a Colorado Principal License
Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
