Job Summary:
Responsible for providing input into the training and development of school-based NS Kitchen Managers and NS Assistants on all aspects of the operation through site visits, coaching, leadership, and clear communication. Assist with effective district-wide implementation and compliance with all district, state, and federal child nutrition program regulations and department of health standards
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Nutrition Service Program Manager, this position will train, guide, mentor and evaluate staff related to assigned areas of attention, including for effective implementation of current USDA Child Nutrition programs, policies, and practices; food quality; and safe food handling performance standards.
Collaborate with department staff to review productivity practices to promote efficiencies and compliance with program standards. Suggest and implement corrections as necessary. Assist as needed at each location.
Assists Field Supervisors with the verification of all reimbursement claims, preparation of documentation, and submittal of all required reports to the Colorado Department of Education.
Under the direction of the Nutrition Services Field Supervisor, review computer data entries, production records, labor hours, and inventory to determine if they are accurately completed and maintained by kitchen staff. Provide clear, accurate communication on findings to the Nutrition Services Field Supervisors.
Track and follow-up on training activities.
Assists the Director of Nutrition Services, Program Manager, and Field Supervisors in the planning, organization, and implementation of programs for professional development of Nutrition Services employees. Provide input into developing training programs to ensure a well-informed and high performing staff at all locations.
Provide input for future training and recommend content to facilitate that training. Content should be tailored to Nutrition Services and focused on improving the service for students. Provides input and contributes to the creation of written training reference materials including manuals, quick reference posters and other resources in multiple languages.
Assists the Nutrition Services Field Supervisors with coordinating new employee orientation and provides onboarding training of staff in cooperation with NS Kitchen Managers.
Assist department with special assignments that may include the following: programs, committees, duties to food safety, employee safety, marketing, free and reduced applications, menu planning, and administrative reviews.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent, ServSafe Manager or equivalent; SNS credential within 12 months of hire preferred. At least 8 hours of food safety training is required not more than 3 years prior to their starting date or completed within 30 calendar days of the employee’s start date.
Experience:
Three years of experience in nutrition, dietetics, or food service management. Three years of supervisory experience. One year of school food service management. Extensive experience with school nutrition management software preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Advanced oral and written communication, interpersonal, English language, problem solving, and customer service skills.
Advanced math, accounting, critical thinking, organizational, public relations, and supervisory/management skills.
Intermediate personal computer, keyboarding, and word processing skills.
Knowledge of food services and catering process, procedures, and guidelines.
Ability to manage confidentiality in all aspects of job.
Knowledge of and experience with commercial kitchen equipment preferred.
Ability to manage multiple tasks with frequent interruptions and multiple priorities.
Ability and willingness to carry a phone, be on call, and/or respond to calls 24/7.
Ability to provide leadership and coaching to all nutrition services kitchen staff.
At least 8 hours of food safety training is required not more than 3 years prior to their starting date or completed within 30 calendar days of the employee’s start date.
Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment, and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator.
Criminal background check and District fingerprinting required.
Certification/License:
Motor Vehicle Operator's License or ability to provide own transportation.
Able to meet district insurance requirements, to drive district vehicles
