What are the responsibilities and job description for the Electric Arc Furnace Supervisor - 1st Shift position at Harrison Steel Castings Co.?
Harrison Steel is hiring a salaried Furnace Supervisor for 1st shift. The Furnace Supervisor manages hourly employees that are responsible for operating our electric arc furnaces, ensuring correct quality of metal grades, and process adherence, from scrap steel to the precise customer-specified liquid steel. Individual reports to the Melting Operations Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Trains employees; plans, assigns and directs work; appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees; addresses complaints and resolves problems.
- Schedules specific production activities based on the Furnace department and their customer, the Foundry department.
- Coordinates with the Foundry and molding lines to schedule processing, batch times, and orders.
- Tracks data and processes to ensure proper processing.
- Ensures necessary supplies are on hand. Monitors equipment status and reports any problems to Maintenance or Engineering.
- Valid fork truck license preferred
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and at least one-year related experience or training. Any Engineering Technology degree is strongly preferred. Basic knowledge of computers and mathematics required; metallurgical knowledge is strongly preferred.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles. The noise level is usually moderate in the office and very loud in the Furnace department. Our Production buildings are not climate controlled. Temperatures reach 100 degrees inside the facility on many summer days and drop well below 40 degrees in the winter.
