What are the responsibilities and job description for the Civil/Geotechnical Laborers position at Harrison Western?
Harrison Western Construction Company (HW) is a full-service specialty contractor specializing in slope stabilization and ground improvement headquartered in Denver, Colorado. We provide soil nail, micropile, compaction grouting and many other specialty services to complete projects for Departments of Transportation, Federal and State agencies, local municipalities, as well as private clients in Colorado and throughout the nation.
We are looking for Construction Laborers to join our growing Civil team. Laborers work under the direction of other field personnel performing physical activities in support of completing construction jobs. Laborers are vital to the success of the crew and job and should be able to trouble shoot and follow directions to ensure the job is completed safely and accurately.
Experience in geotechnical work is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities include:
- Assists crew leader in construction and maintenance work
- Cleans and prepares construction jobsites to eliminate possible hazards
- Works with specialized equipment, the type of equipment varies by the job but can include skid steers, excavators, drill rigs, grout plants… etc.
- Load or unload materials to use at the jobsite
- Maintain tools and equipment
- Report to job site everyday – job sites are generally along the Denver front range and in the Midwest (KY area) but can be anywhere in the country. Generally, job durations are 1-4 weeks in duration
- Extensive travel and per diem for overnight travel
- Gas allowance if more than 50 miles outside metro area when working in front range
- Work in a safe manner at all times
Required skills:
- 1 year construction experience, preferably in utility construction preferred
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the nation
- Ability to take direction from leadership
- Ability to recognize safety risks and hazards
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
- Work in standing, seated or other physical positions
- Work in outdoor elements in all types of terrain and with all types of weather conditions
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, physical and background check
- Ability to work overtime when needed including nights and weekends
Compensation and Benefits:
- Compensation $20.00 - $28.00 per hour DOE
