Position Title: Warehouse Associate
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt, Full Time
Immediate Supervisor: Warehouse Manager
Position Summary: The Warehouse Associate supports warehouse operations by picking and pulling orders for pickup and delivery, placing products in proper storage locations, and utilizing inventory control programs as specified. They will ensure all orders are picked in a timely manner with great accuracy while maintaining a clean and orderly warehouse, as well as assist when necessary to load and unload trucks. The Associate will be expected to follow all safety procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Perform warehouse duties to include: pull, fill and load/unload orders from trucks as needed to accomplish daily distribution goals.
· Restock/replenish products in pick lanes daily and as needed.
· Assist in cycle counts by fixing any order/s that had mis-picked products when needed.
· Work with the Inventory Coordinator to ensure inventory accuracy and proper rotation utilizing FEFO/FIFO inventory control methods.
· Maintain a clean, neat, and orderly work area. Conduct operations in a manner which promotes safety and complies with OSHA, SDS standards, AIB, and HCFB Safety and Sanitation policies.
· Work with Warehouse Manager and Lead Warehouse Associate in completion of Master Cleaning Schedule in a timely manner
· Handle food safely and complete food safety training within the 90 days of employment and re-certify every 3 years.
· Responsible for operating various pieces of equipment (Riding Pallet Jack, Sit-down Forklift, Standup Forklift, Shrink Wrap Machine, etc.)
· Responsible for the cleanliness and organization of equipment.
· Perform work in cold environments, such coolers, and freezers.
· Comply with safety policies and programs developed for warehouse operations.
· Support and supervise volunteer group activities as necessary.
· Provide excellent customer service to HCFB donors and partner agencies.
· Maintain all current licenses, certifications, in accordance/compliance with Feeding America, State and Federal mandated requirements. (Such as Food Safety Certification).
· Consistently reports to work on time prepared to perform duties of position.
· Assist members of the Disaster Response Team as needed.
· Communicates regularly with supervisor about department issues.
· Harry Chapin Food Bank is a “second responder” in the event of a community emergency or disaster. During an emergency or disaster, and only after an employee’s personal responsibilities are under control, employees are asked to report for work to be available to help in ways that may be different from their normal work responsibilities. In addition, employees may be temporarily transferred to other food banks (travel expenses paid) to assist them in recovering from the disaster.
Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or equivalent.
· 1-2 years in a warehouse experience.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Must have basic math, reading and writing skills.
· Tolerance of temps from 40 degrees to -10 degrees
· Basic computer knowledge
· Certified forklift or the Ability to be forklift certified.
· Related experience in the food industry setting.

Working Conditions: This position requires the employee to work occasionally at weekends. Work is performed in a hot, humid warehouse most of the day, significant amount of walking on concrete surfaces. Work conditions during the summer months can be extremely hot. Workspace could be very dusty, and on occasions can be noisy due to the traffic of motorized vehicles operated in the building. Work involves lifting, bending, stooping, pulling, picking up and moving objects up to 30 to 50 pounds.
