Direct Support Professional Float Harry Meyering Center supports people with developmental and intellectual disabilities in their homes and community. Job Summary : The Direct Support Professional Float staff, DSPF, provides assistance, support, and encouragement to meet the needs of people with disabilities served by HMC, with a high level of flexibility needed to cover shifts as required. Services are provided in the individuals’ homes and the community. Some locations have awake-night staff, and some locations have partial-sleep staff. Parameters for this position include the ability to work at multiple locations. Hours will vary week-to-week. Must be able to arrive and be prepared to work within 1 (one) hour of notification of shift. Shifts will not be longer than 16 hours with at least 8 hours between shifts. Will be scheduled for up to 40 hours per week. If no direct care work is available to reach 40 hours, the employee will complete other tasks related to the organization to fill hours. Schedule : Full-time, varying shifts, with on-call schedule. Wage : $24.00 (Full-Time) per hour after completion of training, $22.00 per hour starting, with additional shift differentials in specific locations. An additional $25 per day stipend for being available to work during the required on-call days. Job Duties and Responsibilities : Provide supervision and assistance to individuals genuinely and respectfully while maintaining professional boundaries. A DSPF is expected to be on call up to 6 days a week and work at least 40 hours weekly. Flexibility is required to cover any shift at any program location, including weekends and overnights. Assist individuals with daily activities, including meal preparation and personal hygiene assistance. Encourage participation in leisure activities at home and in the community and promote a healthy lifestyle. Support and / or provide individuals with medical needs, including medication administration and medical appointments. Maintain cleanliness of the home / apartment and ensure safe working and living environments. Complete required documentation. Pursue professional growth and development. Display exceptional documentation skills and systems, routines, and program knowledge. Attend all staff meetings and complete all required training. Maintain HIPAA Compliance in all written or verbal communications, both external and internal to HMC. Follow all health and safety policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. Prior experience or training is required, and having experience as a CNA, PCA, Caregiver, DSP, or healthcare-related professional is preferred for a minimum of 6 months to 1 year. This position requires a valid United States driver’s license and to pass a driving record check conducted by our insurance carrier unless otherwise noted. Must be detail-oriented in the completion of job tasks and able to adequately cover shifts at any program location once training is completed. Must be able to work at any time while on-call, including early mornings and awake overnights. Excellent verbal and written communication skills - with a strong command of the English language - including the ability to effectively communicate with individuals, support teams, and co-workers. Must be self-motivated, exhibit strong interpersonal communication skills, and be able to solve problems and respond effectively to emergencies. Must have a basic knowledge of technology programs. IE : Microsoft Office products. Be able to use and / or be willing to learn technology for daily charting. Displays a positive attitude towards the job. Must exhibit strong advocacy skills. Must work with colleagues and demonstrate the ability to work independently to carry out job duties as assigned. Must pass an MN Department of Human Services Background Study.
