Hartford Hospital

Our current Rehabilitation Aide opening is with the Speech-Language Pathology department at Hartford Hospital, one of the largest and most respected teaching hospitals in New England. We are a Level 1 Trauma Center that provides cutting edge treatment to its patients. This is made possible by being home to the largest robotic surgery center in the Northeast and the Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation (CESI), one of the most-advanced medical simulation training centers in the world. When hospitals cannot provide the advanced care, expertise and new treatment options their patients require, they turn to us.

Position Description

The SLP Rehabilitation Aide provides safe and appropriate basic patient care under the supervision of a Speech Language Pathologist. As a member of the rehabilitation team, the Rehabilitation Aide supports a safe and positive patient experience by assisting in the delivery of care and performing delegated multi-skilled basic patient care services.

The Rehabilitation Aide provides support and assistance to licensed Speech Language Pathologists in areas such as (but not limited to): swallowing studies, speech and language therapy, and communication support. In addition, they may provide support to licensed Rehabilitation Therapists in areas such as therapeutic exercise programs, group exercise programs, and mobility volunteer aide program.

This role contributes to the successful operation of the work area, and functions in accordance with all existing regulatory and company standards, policies and procedures.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Patient care experience or experience as a Rehab Aide/CNA preferred but not required
• Customer service experience and computer literacy required.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• CPR validation may be required within 3 months of hire depending upon work area specific requirement.
• Must be able to physically lift and move patients in a safe manner.
