Job Title: Hartford High School Assistant PrincipalHartford High School is an equal opportunity employer and welcomes applicants from diverse backgrounds and experiences.Job Summary: Hartford High Schools Assistant Principals serve as key members of the schools leadership team, providing instructional and student management direction while fostering an equitable, caring, and professional environment. The next Assistant Principals primary responsibilities will be overseeing student management and supporting instructional practices to enhance the overall educational experience for all learners. The Assistant Principal will ensure strong family engagement, supervise and evaluate faculty and staff, and act as a liaison for Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings. The successful candidate will speak to their belief that all students can learn through sharing their relevant leadership experiences.

Hartford High School is willing to support the right candidate who is in, or plans to enroll in, an alternative pathway to licensure.Key Responsibilities: Student Management: Oversee student management by implementing proactive strategies that promote positive student conduct.

Collaborate with staff to resolve conflicts and provide guidance to students, ensuring a safe and supportive learning environment.Family Outreach: Engage with families to ensure open communication and collaboration in supporting students' academic and social-emotional development, this could include organizing family events, conferences, and workshops to strengthen school-family partnerships.IEP Liaison: Act as a liaison in Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, ensuring students receive appropriate support and accommodations. Collaborate with special education teachers, parents, and outside service providers to develop and implement effective IEPs.Equity and Inclusion: Champion and implement equitable practices that address the diverse needs of the student body. Promote a school culture that values diversity, inclusion, and fairness for all students and staff.Instructional Leadership: Support the development and implementation of instructional strategies that align with the schools vision and goals. Provide guidance to teachers in curriculum delivery, classroom management, and assessment strategies.

Assist in identifying areas for instructional improvement and facilitate necessary changes.Supervision and Evaluation of Staff: Supervise and evaluate teachers and staff to ensure professional growth, adherence to school and district policies, and alignment with instructional goals. Provide timely feedback and conduct regular performance reviews to support ongoing development.Administrative Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively as a member of the administrative team, contributing to decision-making processes and school-wide initiatives while developing and executing school and district policies, programs, and overall school operations.Personal Attributes: Exhibit honesty, kindness, empathy, and a genuine commitment to student success. Maintain a calm, approachable demeanor while effectively managing a wide range of responsibilities. Foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families.Qualifications: Masters Degree in Educational Leadership, Administration, or related field.Valid Vermont licensure for school administration (e.g., Assistant Principal or Principal certification) or the ability to be licensed in the state of VermontAt least five (5) years previous experience in a leadership role in education, preferably in a high school setting.Have exhibited a strong understanding of positive student behavior management, instructional best practices, and special education law.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a demonstrated ability to build relationships with students, staff, and families.Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in an educational setting.Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take initiative when needed.Physical Demands: Occasional evening and weekend hours will be required for family events, staff development, or school functions.How to Apply: Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, and references to Nelson Fogg, Principal, Hartford High School through the appropriate platform (School Spring, really, IHire, other).
