Position: Classroom Clinician - Alternative Program
Summary: The Classroom Counselor (CC) provides direct support services to students with emotional disturbance. Services provided exist within the school and classroom milieu. The CC works in partnership with educators, paraprofessionals, administrators, clinicians, and other CC’s to implement educational and therapeutic interventions for students.
The CC is evaluated and supervised jointly by The Wilder School principal and clinical director.
Qualifications:
- Candidate must hold a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in the fields of Psychology,
Social Work, or Mental Health
- Candidate must have experience supporting students in an educational and/or therapeutic setting
Employment Terms:

Job Functions:
- Participation in all required trainings provided by the Hartford School District, The
Wilder School principal, or The Wilder School Clinical Director
- Support educational staff within in the classroom
- Develop and provide group therapy, social skills instruction, and regulation strategies within the classroom and school milieu on a daily basis
- Attendance at student team meetings before and after school hours is required to provide input about student progress towards transition and IEP goals
- Behavioral data collection, analysis, and participation in team meetings to review
Behavior Intervention Plans
- Contribute to the development of Behavior Intervention Plans
- Participate in Incident Response Team
- Engage of de-escalation of individual students in the classroom
- Certified in CPI and responds to crises as a part of the Incident Response Team
- Participate in Post-Critical incident processing meetings
- Support students in transitioning to mainstream settings
- Support students in community-based vocational opportunities
- Execute all other duties as assigned by the principal of The Wilder School

Pay: $43,000.00 - $78,000.00 per year
