What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instructional Coach position at Hartford School District?
The Ottauquechee School in Hartford, VT seeks a dynamic and dedicated instructional coach beginning in the 2025-26 school year. We are a PreK-5 school with an enrollment of just over 200 students and a highly collaborative culture. We believe that all students can achieve more than they imagine possible across the dimensions of skills and knowledge, character, and high-quality work, and we support all students to become their own authentic versions of effective learners and ethical people who contribute to a better world. In order to build a sense of belonging for all learners, we center the use of equity-centered, culturally responsive and trauma-informed practices.
Our teachers infuse inquiry into all disciplines, build scholars capacity for higher order thinking, prioritize student-engaged assessment, use data to inform instruction, and above all, model and foster a growth mindset. The instructional coach makes a positive impact on teaching and learning for both students and staff by providing job-embedded professional development to our teachers. The coach works with educators across every grade level, content area, position, and level of teaching experience; supports teaching teams in growing their collective efficacy and student outcomes through the use of high-leverage instructional practices, protocols, goal setting, and data-informed conversations; and assists individual teachers in a goal-driven partnerships that entirely focused on positively impacting students. Successful candidates will have at least 5 years of teaching experience and demonstrate evidence of distinguished practice within the realms of classroom management, effective and reflective instruction, use of data to inform teaching, and experience in guiding diverse learners to achieve excellence through differentiation.
Additionally, ideal candidates will have exceptionally clear and strengths-based communication skills with colleagues and may have prior experience as mentors, team leaders, professional development facilitators, or in other peer-leadership roles.
