Hartland Elementary School is located in the center of the vibrant Upper Valley. It is in close proximity to Dartmouth College
and less than a two hour trip to Boston. Hartland Elementary School is a public elementary school serving approximately
250 students in grades K-8. Our school is dedicated to a student centered approach through projects, an integrated
curriculum, differentiated instructional strategies, and proficiency based learning. We value educating the whole child
through a team approach. We are an enthusiastic and inclusive community committed to student agency and self-directed
learning.
JOB DESCRIPTION: To plan, organize, and present instruction and instructional environments that help students learn
subject matter and skills that will contribute to their educational and social development in the 21st century.
Qualifications:
Vermont State certification in teaching in appropriate subject area encouraged
B.A/B.S degree in teaching from an accredited institution or related field teaching encouraged
Position Responsibilities
● Leads in the Physical Education environment by taking responsibility for all students’ learning.
● Develops integrated curriculum for K-6 Physical Education based on Vermont State Standards.
● Provides an environment in which each child has a positive, nurturing relationship with caring adults by encouraging an
inclusive, equitable climate that is inviting, respectful, supportive, inclusive, and flexible.
● Treats students as individuals by maintaining high expectations for all students; and by appreciating differences and
valuing contributions.
● Works collaboratively with the families and significant adults in the lives of their students by improving communication
and collaboration between the school and the home and community.
● Knows the ways in which learning takes place and the appropriate levels of intellectual, physical, social, and emotional
development of students.
● Plans instruction appropriate for diverse students by collaborating with colleagues
● Integrates and utilizes technology in instruction by knowing when and how to use technology to maximize student
learning.
● Helps students develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills by encouraging students to ask questions, think
creatively, and be curious
● Uses a variety of methods to assess what each student has learned by using multiple indicators to evaluate student
progress.
● Creates an active and engaging learning environment where students are inspired to obtain a deeper knowledge of the
subjects they're studying.
Knowledge Skills and Ability Required (or willingness to learn):

● Knowledge of Trauma-informed instruction preferred
● Knowledge of Responsive Classroom and Collaborative Problem Solving preferred
