We are currently seeking a principal for Hartland Elementary School. Hartland Elementary School is located in the center of the vibrant Upper Valley. It is close to Dartmouth College and less than a two hour trip to Boston. Hartland Elementary School is a public elementary school serving approximately 250 students in grades K-8. Our school is dedicated to a student-centered approach through projects, an integrated curriculum, differentiated instructional strategies, and proficiency-based learning. We value educating the whole child through a team approach. We are an enthusiastic and inclusive community committed to student agency and self-directed learning. Summary: The principal provides instructional leadership to staff including: curriculum planning; instructional supervision; assessment oversight and associated professional development as needed. The principal is responsible for day-to-day building administration and the general welfare of all students and staff. The principal is responsible for a safe, pleasant and effective educational climate, providing management and supervision as necessary to enforce school board policy.. Finally, the principal is responsible for engaging the larger school community with the school staff and students. Qualifications: Masters Degree in Educational Administration; Licensed as PK-12 Principal in Vermont; Excellent communication skills; Minimum of 5 years teaching experience. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Interacts with students constructively to encourage each individual to perform at their highest level of performance; Manages all building staff, including co-supervision of special education staff; Evaluates the performance and effectiveness of programs and staff using the designated supervisory union evaluation plan; Coordinates in-service training for staff in conjunction with the supervisory union; Maintains relations with parents, parent groups, volunteers, and outside agencies; Participates in supervisory union-wide activities, in-services, committees, as appropriate. Implements policy and procedure changes from the Board, State, and/or Federal levels; Reports appropriately to staff and to the community on school performance; In consultation with the superintendent and business manager, develops the school building budget and works with the business manager on budgeting/purchasing management; Works with central office personnel to coordinate processes for the effective functioning of the school; Maintains current information on legal/financial developments or educational legislative reforms; Participates in School and Community activities; Maintains visibility throughout the school and is accessible to students, parents, and staff before and after school; In conjunction with the Director of Student Support Services, ensures compliance with all IDEA-B, 504, and EST requirements; Attends School Board meetings; Interest, willingness, and/or experience integrating and advancing inclusive practices WSESU is a diverse community of learners where: Every learner has the potential to be a leader Students have a strong voice in shaping their school experiences Learning is personal, connected, and relevant High expectations exist in caring, nurturing environments Individuals grow into larger communities, while also broadening a sense of self Positive relationships define the interactions between school and the community Students get better at making decisions by making decisions Everyone is able to bring their full selves to the learning experience We encourage women, people of the global majority, LGBTQIA individuals, people with disabilities, foreign-born residents, older members of society, and individuals from diverse lived experiences and backgrounds to apply.
