Seeking a dedicated and passionate individual for the position of Athletic Trainer and Health Science Technology (HST) / Career and Technical Education (CTE) Teacher. This unique position combines athletic training responsibilities with teaching HST and CTE courses to high school students, focusing on developing future healthcare professionals.
Primary Purpose:
Plan, coordinate, and supervise all components of the athletic training program for student athletes to prevent, recognize, assess, manage, treat, and recondition athletic injuries and illnesses. Responsible for organizing physicals, and all athletic paperwork associated with UIL.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid license from Texas Advisory Board of Athletic Trainers
- Current adult cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
- Automated external defibrillator certification (AED)
Valid Texas teaching certification-PREFERRED
Demonstrated competency in the core subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Ability to oversee student field experiences in career area assigned
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge of therapeutic modalities and injury prevention.
Ability to provide emergency care and rehabilitation for student athletic injuries.
Ability to instruct and supervise student athletes and assistants.
Develop and implement curriculum for Health Science Technology and CTE courses related to healthcare careers.
- Teach students about various aspects of the healthcare industry, including anatomy, physiology, medical terminology, and basic medical practices.
- Foster a classroom environment that promotes active learning, teamwork, and critical thinking.
- Provide hands-on learning experiences, including clinical rotations, certifications, and simulations.
- Support students in obtaining relevant certifications (CPR, First Aid, etc.) to enhance their professional development.
- Participate in extracurricular activities such as career fairs, mentorship programs, and school events related to healthcare careers.
