The Role:
- As a key member of Hartung Brothers Inc. (HBI), you will perform all phases of field operations for crop production, including maintenance and repairs to company equipment and facilities.
Responsibilities:
- Crop Production: Operate various types of equipment needed in farming operations, performing duties such as tillage, planting, chemical application, fertilization, cultivation, harvesting, and transporting crops.
- Maintenance and Repairs: Perform routine maintenance and repairs on all equipment and vehicles used in farm operations, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Technical Support: Enhance your understanding of precision ag equipment and associated technology, observing and reporting technical and mechanical concerns to the Lead Mechanic or Farm Manager.
- Compliance and Safety: Comply with company and customer regulations and policies, continually monitoring and reporting health, safety, and food concerns or deviations to supervisory management.
Requirements:
- Valid driver's license and high school diploma or equivalent.
- Good mechanical aptitude to detect and correct or repair equipment issues.
- Working knowledge of plumbing, electrical, hydraulics, and technology in agricultural systems.
- Able to obtain a Pesticide Applicator's License.
- General knowledge of chemicals, their handling, and application requirements.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum two years' experience in operating farm equipment, including tractors, harvesters, cultivators, tillage equipment, sprayers, spreaders, etc.
- Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
- Forklift and skid steer operation experience.
- Basic agronomic knowledge and computer skills.
- Ability to communicate and comprehend using various methods.
Working Conditions:
- Varying work environments, from indoor to outdoor settings.
- Seasonally prolonged standing and heavy lifting of 50 plus pounds.
- Seasonally mandatory overtime, including weekends, nights, and holidays.
