What are the responsibilities and job description for the Inspector A position at Hartwell Corporation?
PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITES
Follow prescribed inspection methods and procedures to production planning documents, drawings, and other instructions, performs necessary inspection of parts, sub-assemblies, raw stock, tools, and gauges to ensure conformity to specifications and dimensions. Maintains logs of inspection activities and prepares reports. Works under limited supervision.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES – other duties may be assigned
Performs inspection of parts, sub-assemblies, castings, forgings, and final products, and incoming raw stock, to determine conformance to alignment, contour, hardness, functionality, and dimensional specifications.
Performs first article inspection and final approval of machine parts, tooling, castings, and forgings.
Analyzes Engineering drawings, customer specifications, planning documents, and requirements to determine inspection process to follow.
Performs inspection through visual techniques and application of such measuring devices.
Inspects parts to be processed and upon completion of processing to ensure conformance to customer specifications and requirements.
Records inspection results on appropriate forms, inputs data to computer in a format which leads to decisions on final disposition of discrepant parts.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED) equivalent.
Minimum of 5 years of production, quality assurance experience; and/or
Equivalent combination of education and experience.
To conform to U.S. export control regulations, applicant should be eligible for any required authorizations from the U.S. Government.
Proficient in spoken and written English
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Must be able to read and interpret drawings and planning documents, and follow verbal instructions in English and prepare inspection reports.
Must have extensive knowledge of inspection tools, surface plate layout techniques, drawing interpretation, caliper, micrometer and CMM skills (optional).
Must have advanced knowledge of SPC and be able to assist “B” Inspectors in problem solving.
Must be able to use inspection and measuring tools and gauges.
Must be able to prepare inspection reports and input data to computer.
