Professor of Practice in Art - Glass & 3D Tech - Part-Time


The Department of Art & Art History at Hartwick College invites applications for a part-time, two-year renewable appointment at the rank of Professor of Practice, starting in August 2025, pending final administrative approval.  Minimum qualifications include an MFA degree by the time of appointment, with expertise in Glass Blowing and other hot and cold glass techniques. Preference will be given to those with undergraduate teaching experience; experience in Ceramics, Metalshop, and Woodshop; and with experience in community engagement.

Specific teaching assignments will include 12 credits of teaching in Glass – one 4-credit course per term, and possibly general education courses, including First Year Seminars. Teaching load will average 12 semester credit hours or their equivalent per academic year, and all faculty members teach during the College’s distinctive four-week January Term. There may be opportunities for more teaching and compensation during Hartwick’s summer sessions. The successful candidate must be committed to excellence and innovation in undergraduate teaching. Department service, including recruiting events, is expected.

In addition to teaching, this position includes work as the 3D Studio Technician (glass, ceramics, metalshop and woodshop) and Hazardous Materials Technician.

This is a part-time, 10-month, benefits-eligible position.

Salary: $35,000
