Job Summary
Have a profoundly positive impact on the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Train staff to support individuals with learning new skills (cooking, shopping, banking, managing their money) and enjoying a meaningful life in the community. Coordinate the daily operations of one or more residential support service programs within the framework of Hartwood Foundation, Inc. policies and procedures. To assure program compliance with applicable rules, regulations, and laws including those made by DBHDS Licensing, the Department of Medical Assistance Services and the Centers of Medicare and Medicaid. To assure the quality of residential support programs to service recipients.
Essential Functions
- Train, supervise, and evaluate assigned employees.
- Schedule assigned employees to meet program needs.
- Support service recipients to be integrated in and to enjoy full access to the community they live in.
- Model desirable behaviors and work performance for service recipients and staff.
- Communicate effectively with Person Centered Planning Team Members and model Person Centered language and behavior.
- Monitor administration and supply of medications, assure appropriate support and follow-up for service recipients' medical needs.
- Maintain positive, professional relationships with service recipients, co-workers, supervisors, families, community members and outside agencies.
- Facilitate service recipients choice regarding services and supports.
- Ensure individuals of privacy, dignity, and respect and freedom form coercion and restraint.
- Maintain health and safety standards as per Hartwood policy and procedures
- Ability to act as a representative of Hartwood Foundation in the community.
- Ability to effectively communicate with individuals of diverse backgrounds in the workplace and in the workplace.
- Assure compliance with Hartwood policy, procedure and proactive, report non compliance to supervisor.
Education and Experience
- Bachelors Degree and 2 years related experience (1 year supervisory experience preferred).
- Working knowledge of human behavior and developmental disability concepts: excellent English language usage both oral and written; working knowledge of basic strategies for planning, implementing, and evaluating programs with developmental disabilities, working knowledge of personnel management strategies and techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and carryout complex tasks given verbal and/or written instructions and guidelines.
- Current drivers' license and safe driving record.
- Other duties as assigned.
