Job Title: Grounds / Maintenance Job Description
Job Summary:
The Grounds/ Maintenance staff provides students with a clean, attractive, healthy, and safe building environment to learn and work.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Valid Driver’s License
Must have access to transportation
Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated at least annually by the Director of Building and Grounds or designee in accordance with the Board’s policy on the Evaluation of Personnel.

Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time, 12-month position covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement in the custodial category. Compensation is hourly, with pay and benefits determined by the Board of Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Completes projects on schedule, as assigned by their Lead Supervisor and the Director of Buildings and Grounds
- Communicates daily with their Lead Supervisor regarding grounds and maintenance needs
- Assists the Lead Supervisor in the monitoring of grounds and maintenance needs across the district
- Performs ground equipment repairs throughout the district
- Performs ground maintenance, including but not limited to picking up leaves and debris, mowing, trimming, flower bed upkeep, driveway repair, athletic field preparations, etc
- Performs general maintenance duties, including but not limited to plumbing, fencing, floor repair, painting, etc.
- Performs carpentry work throughout the district
- Performs other miscellaneous work essential to the welfare of occupants and the preservation of facilities
- Performs daily grounds and campus inspections to ensure a clean, safe, and healthy environment
- Performs Health and Life Safety Inspections every month
- Completes assignments in a conscientious and timely manner, consistently meeting deadlines
- Demonstrates attention to detail and routines
- Maintains confidentiality regarding school-related information and does not divulge internal information unless approved by their supervisor
- Attends and participates in training opportunities, including but not limited to in-service days, department meetings, building meetings, committees, and conferences
- Performs such other duties or services as assigned that relate to custodial services, grounds/maintenance, and general building operations as assigned by the Director of Buildings and Grounds, Lead Supervisor, or designated representative
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must have basic skills, including landscaping, athletic field care, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry
- Must be self-motivated and flexible in day-to-day assignments
- Must have the ability and willingness to establish professional relationships with co-workers
- Must have the ability and desire to follow oral and written instructions
- Must Demonstrate good and clear communication skills, both written and oral
- Must have the ability to perform manual tasks associated with groundswork
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this position include frequent standing or walking for extended periods. The employee may occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Repetitive bending at the waist and kneeling, stooping, and crouching to assist are also required. Employees may reach overhead as well as above the shoulders and horizontally.
