JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Summary:
The Summer School Principal shall assume administrative responsibilities and instructional leadership under the supervision of the Director of Special Services and in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Board of Education for the planning, operation, and evaluation of the district summer school programs.
Qualifications:
Professional Educator License (PEL)
Minimum of five years of effective classroom and/or school-setting experience
PEL Administrative Endorsement
Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy.

Summer School Staff
Terms of Employment:
A stipend of $6500 and benefits as established by the Board of Education. The employment includes afterschool planning and facilitating and supervising the summer programs from June through August.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Serves as the instructional leader for the purpose of providing direction for staff and the best program for students.
- Coordinates the selection of personnel (e.g. certificated staff, support staff) for the purpose of recommending qualified candidates to the District for summer employment.
- Collaborates with the Director of Special Services, PreK-5 Curriculum Lead and building principals in the areas of curriculum, scheduling, and professional development for the PK through the Eighth Grade Summer School Programming, including ESY.
- Facilitates communication between personnel, students, and/or parents to evaluate situations, solve problems, and/or resolve conflicts.
- Fosters an environment that encourages staff to be innovative with instructional strategies and collaborate with other staff for the purpose of meeting the needs of all students.
- Submits payroll documentation to the Human Resources office on a weekly basis.
- Supports classroom teachers to create and nurture supportive, student-centered classroom communities that promote personal empowerment, academic growth, and the social-emotional well-being of all learners.
- Develop and maintain positive school/community relations by promoting/marketing summer school programs.
- Demonstrates the ability to work collaboratively with parents and the community.

- Must have strong verbal communication skills
- Must model a desire and willingness to continually learn, constantly seeking ways to first improve in order to support the learning of others
Physical Demands:
The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting and standing for extended periods. Depending on the assignment, the employee may occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Repetitive bending at the waist as well as kneeling, stooping, and crouching to assist students,s is also required. Employees may reach overhead as well as above the shoulders and horizontally. Driving to and from events in each building and our community locations
