Job Title:
Educational Support Personnel - Transition Program Associate
Job Summary:
Under the direction of the Job Coach, the Associate assists and supports transition services for young adults (18-21) with disabilities through community-based activities to develop independent living skills, employability skills, job skills, employment opportunities, and other community participation experiences.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED
60 College Credit Hours and/or Passed ETS Paraprofessional Test
Valid Driver's License
Evaluation:
The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s policy on staff Evaluation.

Terms of Employment:
This is a full-time, 9-month position covered under the Collective Bargaining Agreement in the secretary/clerical category. Compensation is hourly, with pay and benefits determined by the Board of Education.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervises and monitors students at job training sites and employment locations.
- Transports students between school and community training activities/sites in a district vehicle.
- Communicate daily with the Job Coach to review community activities, student progress, and related needs.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, and/or parents regarding needs and concerns.
- Assists in administering informal surveys and inventories to assess student’s vocational abilities and interests.
- Assisted with maintaining student files, including daily activity logs, progress charts, attendance, and parent/student/employer contacts.
- Performs general clerical duties related to the position, including word processing, making phone contacts, filing, and preparing materials.
- Drives personal vehicle to job development functions and other transition-related activities that do not require student participation.
- Participates in professional development as directed.
- Attends staff meetings as needed.
- It complies with district confidentiality guidelines, including the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA).

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Must demonstrate the ability to interact and communicate effectively with children with special needs

Physical Demands:
Work may be performed in various settings with varying cleanliness levels, heat, noise, dust, odors/fumes, etc. Must be willing and able to work flexibly, including weekends, nights, holidays, and adjusting workday hours. Must be willing and flexible and can adapt to new assignments and situations on short notice. Must be willing and able to travel 100% of the time through McHenry, Lake, and Cook counties. The physical demands of this position include frequent sitting and standing for extended periods. Depending on class/student assignment, the employee may occasionally lift, push, pull, and/or move up to 50 pounds. Repetitive bending at the waist and kneeling, stooping, and crouching to assist students are also required. Employees may reach overhead as well as above the shoulders and horizontally.
