What are the responsibilities and job description for the Postdoctoral Research Associate position at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital?
The Petti lab in the Brain Tumor Research Center at Massachusetts General Hospital (https://pettilab.mgh.harvard.edu/) is seeking to fill a post-doctoral research position in computational biology/single-cell cancer genomics. We use computational approaches to analyze, integrate, and interpret genomic data -- particularly single-cell RNA-sequencing, spatial transcriptomic, and exome sequencing data -- to better understand intratumoral heterogeneity, gene regulatory networks, and the immune microenvironment in human cancer. The postdoctoral scholar will be involved in projects that use these techniques to address topics such as the interplay of genetic, transcriptional, spatial, and immunological heterogeneity in brain tumors (e.g. meningioma, glioblastoma, pituitary adenomas, and brain metastases). Opportunities to initiate and lead projects, develop new analytic methods, publish, participate in ongoing group projects, and be co-mentored by faculty collaborators are plentiful. Interested applicants should submit a curriculum vitae to apetti@mgh.harvard.edu.
Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD in computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, computer science, biology, genetics, genomics, immunology or a related field. A solid background in both programming and biology, as demonstrated by publications in single-cell genomics, is required. Applicants must be comfortable working on a UNIX/Linux operating system, program proficiently in R and either Python or Perl, and have experience with command-line bioinformatics tools. Some background in cancer, machine learning and/or statistics is strongly preferred.
