Position Description
VENTEON Finance is hiring multiple STAFF ACCOUNTANTS to provide support for a Non-Profit organization in Detroit, MI. This organization supports multiple programs that ensure people have access to shelter, food, water, education, health care and mental health programs. They also help provide training and employment programs. Come and join a team that allows you to earn a living while helping others.
POSITION TYPE: Full Time. Contract-to-Hire. Hybrid
Requirements of the Staff Accountant:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or similar preferred. Understanding of GAAP.
- Five or more years of proven experience in Accounting and Finance is required. Prior work experience in non-profit, governmental, or public sector accounting strongly preferred. Knowledge of grants a plus.
- Experience working for a multi entity organization is helpful.
- Knowledge and experience in maintaining general ledger accounting records, posting journal entries, and reconciling balance sheet accounts.
- Experience generating, analyzing, and presenting financial statements and reports.
- Must have good organization skills; the ability to coordinate several activities concurrently with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good judgement and ability to make decisions.
- Experience in Intacct or similar cloud-based financial system a plus.
Duties of the Staff Accountant:
- Perform as part of the Accounting team to accomplish objectives. Perform general accounting functions.
- Compile, track, and review monthly grant expenditures for compliance with grant contracts; and produce monthly report summaries.
- Perform complex general ledger reconciliations, research, and resolve discrepancies.
- Support accounting month end close.
- Prepare accounting reports and financial statements.
- Analyze and present financial data (for multiple entities) to the Board of Directors.
- Manage risk and perform compliance by supporting audits.
- Submitting external reports required under federal and state grants and interfacing directly with various funders (federal, state, local agencies).
- Manage multiple spreadsheets with large amounts of data.
