The Department of Environmental Health at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health invites applications for a full-time tenure ladder faculty position at the rank of full professor as Director of the John B Little Center for Radiation Sciences. Applicants should have a PhD, MD, ScD, or equivalent doctoral degree.

We are seeking a qualified individual to research and translate science on radiation and environmental exposures, whose expertise includes one (or preferably more) of the following areas: research and education in radiation science, radiation medicine, radiation therapy, environmental exposures, and environmental health. The candidate should also be knowledgeable about the interdependence of radiation biology, radiation epidemiology, and environmental exposures at the individual and population levels. The ability to translate scientific research into policy recommendations for regulatory frameworks and public health protection is essential.

Candidate’s expertise could be based in diverse disciplines including, but not limited to, environmental exposure, epidemiology, clinical radiation practice, implementation science, health equity, economics, radiation modeling, radiation therapy, toxicology, the practice of public health. The selected candidate will work closely with the two current tenure-track faculty and their teams in the JBL Center, recognizing their leadership roles and overseeing their sustained research and career progression. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for fostering cross-departmental and crossinstitutional collaborations across schools, hospitals, and the university to enhance the Center's impact and growth. The most competitive candidates will have: a strong track record of interdisciplinary, teambased science, of mentoring, and successful leading of teams, including publications in peer-reviewed journals; demonstrated ability of obtaining external funding; strong ability to communicate research findings to media and key audiences including decision makers; and motivation and ability to achieve excellence in teaching at the graduate levels including promoting awareness of socioeconomic determinants as they pertain to radiation science, environmental health, and environmental justice. In addition, the successful candidate will have a record of advancing diversity of opinion and perspective in scholarship, and a willingness to help meet the needs of our growing environmental health department through mentoring faculty, students and post-doctoral trainees, working with other faculty members, and taking on service and additional leadership roles as needed.

The candidate will be expected to serve as an educational, research, and civic engagement leader on Radiation and Environmental Health at Harvard, research translation, communications across diverse platforms and stakeholders within the United States, and globally. This includes outreach to a broad range of audiences including donors, fundraising prospects, media appearances and public speaking events.
