What are the responsibilities and job description for the Animal Care Technician II position at Harvard University?
Basic Qualifications
High school graduate or equivalent with at least 3-6 months experience in laboratory animal care required. Post-secondary education may count toward work experience.
Additional Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are required; must be able to communicate effectively with and relate to various personnel through the University.
- Basic computer skills required, including familiarity with navigating web-based applications.
- Eligibility for ALAT certification preferred.
Additional Information
This position is considered to be essential personnel for Harvard Center for Comparative Medicine. Weekend and holiday work may be required as well as attendance during school closures (due to inclement weather and / or other emergencies).
Offer contingent upon successful completion of a pre-placement medical evaluation.

Position Description
Responsible for the daily care of various laboratory animals, including mice, rats, rabbits and / or other species of laboratory animals as necessary. Duties include cleaning, feeding and watering of animals as assigned. Other responsibilities include :

This position is based primarily on-campus, in Massachusetts. This may include in-person during emergency situations (if applicable).
