What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic Trainer - Transition to Practice Program position at Harvard University?
The Harvard University Sports Medicine Department invites applications for 3 athletic training positions within our Transition to Practice Program. This program is geared toward athletic trainers in their first year(s) of certification looking to practice autonomously in a comprehensive sports medicine department while receiving mentorship and guidance so crucial to the development of newly credentialed athletic trainers. This is a 12 month benefits eligible position beginning on July 1st 2025, concluding on June 30th 2026.
Key features of the Transition to Practice Position include but are not limited to:
- Autonomous care of at least 1 Division I Ivy League sport program
- Dry Needling Certification and Sound Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization Technique Certification sponsored by department, as well as several continuing education sessions on campus each semester.
- Formal mentorship through monthly one-on-one meetings with the Program Director
- Informal mentorship and learning via exposure to and collaboration with a large staff of experienced clinicians
- Minimum of 4 rotations with physician specialties at nation’s leading hospitals such as: Hand/Wrist specialist, Sports Cardiologist, and Foot/Ankle surgeon as well as those of athletic trainer’s specific interest (examples: concussion clinic, chiropractor, thoracic outlet specialist, sport dietician)
Salary for 12 months is $43,888 paid bi-weekly with the opportunity to opt into benefits plan. Options for additional compensation may be available through camps and clinics offered on campus and per diem needs of schools in the area. Athletic trainers will also be assigned a laptop to use for documentation and research for the year as well as an athletic training kit.
