Physical Education Teacher
Position Reports to: School Principal
Position Overview:
The Best Academy is seeking a dynamic, enthusiastic, and dedicated Physical Education (PE) Teacher to join our team for grades K-8. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating and delivering engaging physical education lessons that promote healthy living, physical fitness, and teamwork. The PE Teacher will work with students to develop motor skills, foster a love for physical activity, and encourage the lifelong benefits of staying active and healthy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach physical education classes for students in grades K-8, focusing on skill development, fitness, and healthy lifestyles.
- Develop and implement lesson plans that are aligned with state and district standards, promoting physical fitness, teamwork, and social-emotional learning.
- Create a safe and supportive learning environment where students feel encouraged to participate and grow in their physical abilities.
- Assess and monitor student progress, providing regular feedback and encouragement to support students in meeting their individual physical and fitness goals.
- Introduce students to a wide range of physical activities, sports, and fitness exercises, encouraging a lifelong love for physical activity.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administrators to promote wellness initiatives within the school community.
- Organize and oversee physical fitness events, intramural sports, and other extracurricular activities.
- Foster positive relationships with students, parents/guardians, and colleagues.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Valid Minnesota teaching license in Physical Education (K-12) or ability to obtain licensure.
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a related field (or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of physical education principles, fitness, sports, and child development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students of all ages.
- Experience in classroom management and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Commitment to promoting physical fitness, health, and well-being for all students.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience teaching physical education at the elementary and/or middle school level.
- CPR/First Aid certification.
- Ability to integrate technology into physical education lessons and activities.
- Experience with adaptive physical education and/or working with students with special needs.
