Elective Teacher- Part Time

An Elective Teacher must be a born-again Christian, committed to living a biblical lifestyle and called by God to teach at Harvest Christian School. This position teaches, plans, directs and coordinates student activities at the secondary level: academic, social, physical and spiritual wholeness, with compassion, encouragement and leadership. An Elective Teacher must be dependable, friendly, enthusiastic, creative and organized, with the ability to relate well with children, parents, school staff and volunteers. They must teach with integrity, honesty and knowledge that promotes Harvest’s culture, values and mission. The primary function is to help students attain intellectual achievement and emotional maturity through the appropriate use of resources provided by Harvest Christian School.

Requirements

• Teach pupils the skills necessary for those pupils to achieve performance standards.
• Instruct pupils in citizenship, basic communication, computation skills and other elements of the course of study as specified by administration.
• Develop and maintain lesson plans and instructional materials that provide and organize the base for instruction.
• Maintain standards of pupil behavior needed to provide a classroom atmosphere conducive to learning.
• Evaluate pupils’ academic progress and social growth, maintaining appropriate records and making progress reports, communication with parents on pupil progress and determining whether satisfactory pupil performance is occurring.
• Develop and maintain a classroom environment conducive to learning.
• Participate cooperatively with management in the evaluation system through which each teacher is evaluated in conformance with the school’s guidelines for performance assessment. 
• Supervise pupils in classroom and in other school sponsored activities as assigned by the principal.
• Enforce school rules, administration regulations and school policies.
• Perform other duties related to the basic assignment. 
• Work independently with little direction. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Maintain professional and positive relationships with students, parents, colleagues, and administration.

• Maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance.
• Maintain current knowledge of applicable curriculum and school instruction related regulations.
• Operate a computer and job-related equipment.
• Ability to organize and coordinate schedules, analyze and interpret data. Problem solving.
• Ability to communicate with the public, read analyze and interpret printed matter and computer screens.
• Ability to create written communication so others will be able to clearly understand the written communication.
• Exercise discretion and maintain confidentiality.
• Physical requirements, with or without accommodation, include: long periods of sitting, repetitive hand motions due to keyboard typing, answering phones, handle materials, looking at the computer screen for long periods of time.

Salary Range:  $28.00 - $45.00 per hour.
