Position Summary:
• Set direction and drive improvement for Make/Pack/Ship production operations and all resources supporting core operations.
• Clarify priorities and use appropriate processes and tools to drive out waste and improve cost structure for the site.
• Manage team to put right people are in right roles with right skills doing effective work with a sense of urgency to ensure we meet our cost per case commitments.
• Ensure technical and maintenance leaders/resources are delivering Proactive Maintenance and work closely with cross functional leadership.
• Lead appropriate communications up, down, across and throughout the organization that drives action and support for organizational priorities
• Full engagement in daily management activities of teams and individuals through hands-on Leadership, on the floor presence, coaching and execution of work.
• Use/implement adequate and regular review processes to track and reinforce progress vs plans to close gaps.
• Champion and act as a role model for people development across the site.
• Hold self, individuals and teams accountable do deliver against case and cost targets, reduce unplanned downtime, and deliver against orders with minimal cuts and pushes.
• Personally own and be a role model for safety and quality systems and expectations. Active Leadership in these areas is a must to provide a safe workspace and products.
• Work effectively and appropriately across plant and functional support to ensure best solutions and practices for company.
Primary Position Responsibilities:
I. Drive Improvements in Plant Manufacturing Operations
• Continually drive case output, cost per case, and downtime improvements to meet and sustain targets for the plant.
• Lead/manage improvements across all aspects for blending, packaging and logistics.
• Lead, drive, and use productivity resources and tools to drive out waste.
• Enforce standard work processes are followed and continually improved
• Complete Kaizens daily, weekly and ongoing to build skills and improve results.
• Ensure systems and processes are used to track and develop operational and technical skill improvement and utilization.
• Lead/own individual and team performance management and accountability systems.
II. Plant Safety and Quality
• Lead and ensure Safe, Quality production of products that add Value to the Customer.
• Personally lead and own appropriate Safety and Quality systems and behaviors.
• Coach, teach and develop Safety and Quality leaders as a member of Safety Committee.
• Ensure that all plant, legal and/or regulatory practices and procedures for Safety, Quality, and Production are properly followed and implemented.
• Maintain a clean and orderly work environment for self and throughout the plant.
III. Cost Responsibility
• Lead/manage in a way that continually focuses on cost reductions and efficiency.
• Drive out waste daily and coach/teach others to do the same.
• Own budgeting and cost center accountability for Make/Pack/Ship operations.
• Manage Cost to deliver the Budget. Budget is considered maximum spend.
IV. Organizational Development
• Continually assess and evaluate skills and contributions of employees to understand gaps vs required results.
• Develop, own, lead and manage robust people and skill development plans that focus on improving skills that will improve results
• Ensure appropriate people performance management that delivers improved results.
• Coach, lead and develop leaders to focus efforts on results improvement
• Develop and nurture productive working relationships with functional leaders and resources across the company and with 3rd party enterprises.
Position Qualifications:
• 8-10 years of experience in a consumer products manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of consumer packaging, chemical processing and manufacturing, preferably in Beverage or Food manufacturing.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in a management or supervisory role.
• Demonstrated ability to deliver results through empowerment of people, change management and performance management
• Demonstrated ability to acquire and utilize technical skills to resolve issues and solve them to root cause.
• Strong hands-on knowledge of packaging equipment and formulation processing.
• Proven experience leading and driving results improvement using lean systems.
• Working knowledge of FDA regulations, SQF, HACCP and GMP manufacturing.
• Working knowledge of OSHA Safety regulations and requirements.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Science or Business Administration
• Or commensurate work and leadership experience with progressive and expanding roles and responsibilities
