What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Boys Baseball coach position at Harvest Preparatory Academy?
Harvest Preparatory Academy is a K-12 public charter school located in Yuma AZ and San Luis AZ. We are currently accepting applications/resumes for the position of HS Boys baseball coach.
DUTIES
Before the season:
- Review the AD computer/team and keep a written record.
- Inventory all equipment before the season.
- Create logon and logoff record before the computer is released.
- Research of new materials/articles
- Research fundraisers and send them to Administration and A.D.
- Coordinate team/coach/parent meetings.
- Confirm that the player's contact numbers are working, as well as their emergency contact numbers and health information, i.e., allergies, asthma, etc.
- Pre-season AD meeting to review expectations.
- Coordinate/Maintain Tests
- Pick up all eligibility packets before the season begins.
- Collect player fees and keep a spreadsheet of who has paid. Send to AD.
- Get emergency contact information and health information from players, i.e., allergies, asthma, etc.
- Coordinate the banquet at the beginning of the season by the end of the season (if applicable)
- Update Coach Binder with any changes or as needed.
- Make copies of all forms for Coach Binder. The originals go to AD.
- Coordinate a weightlifting program with the AD (see attached P and P)
During the season (daily)
- Tracking Player Practice Attendance
- Coordinate internships.
- Coaches will get 2 jugs of water to practice in the sports shed, take the jugs to the cafeteria, and fill them with Jug 1 (Gatorade) and Pitcher 2 (water), coaches will powder the pitcher first and mix them with a quarter of warm water. The coaches will fill the rest with cold water and then add ice and load onto the bus.
- Keep track of the session after practice/games at home and away. Do not fire the student until each student is signed by the tutor or boards the activity bus. No student walks unless they have a walking permit signed by the parents. (See registrar's form)
During the season (weekly)
- Check student eligibility.
- Attendance (school/internship)
- Discipline/behavior
- Ratings (due Wednesday)
- Uniforms cleaned during the season (give to the administrator's representative)
- Update A.D and Mrs. Ybarra on game scoring after each game
- Coordinate with the administrator for travel and AD for itineraries for game days and practices and send an email to the appropriate staff (MS/HS desktop)
- Create a logout sheet from the list for all practices/games.
- Up-to-date player stats in Max Preps/Upload movie on website after each game within 24 hours
- For away matches, nearest hospital search map.
- You must give weekly update on the BAND app for parents/athletes and Ms. Ybarra to watch.
- After the away game, coaches must unload ALL equipment in the sports shed.
- Coaches must have the coaches folder present during all sporting events such as Practices, Games and Tournaments.
After the season
- Inventory the entire equipment after the season.
- Complete logon and logoff registration for the returned computer
- Create department budget with AD.
- Send a quote to the Athletic Director
- Coordinate a weightlifting program with the AD (see attached P and P)
- Update Coach Binder as needed and deliver the binder to AD.
- Get students recruited (Huddle, featured movie, contact college coaches, fill out a sports quiz on college websites by senior athlete)
QUALIFICATIONS:
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- A valid fingerprint clearance card
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be able to work cooperatively with all members of the staff and communicate effectively with parents.
- At least one year of field experience.
