The ideal candidate will have the ability to work with students across multiple grade levels, addressing their specific needs in both math and career technical education (CTE) in sports medicine and emergency medical services (EMS).
Position Overview
This dual-class position combines the roles of MS/HS Math Interventionist and Sports Medicine/EMS CTE Teacher. The candidate will work to support students in improving their math skills through small group interventions, while also providing instruction in the area of sports medicine and EMS. The position will require strong time management skills and the ability to seamlessly integrate both roles to meet the academic and career readiness needs of the students.
Duties and Responsibilities
Math Interventionist (Grades 5-12):
- Provide small group and individualized math interventions, focusing on students in grades 5-12 who are below grade level in math.
- Develop targeted lessons to address areas of deficiency in math, helping students build foundational skills and increase their academic performance.
- Regularly assess student progress through tools such as the Galileo monitoring system, and adjust lesson plans based on data.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and school staff to track at-risk students and provide timely support.
- Keep accurate records of student progress and report to parents/guardians regarding student achievement.
- Prepare weekly lesson plans that target specific math skills for improvement.
Sports Medicine/EMS CTE Teacher (Grades 9-12):
- Provide instruction in the sports medicine and emergency medical services (EMS) curriculum to high school students, preparing them for careers in health-related fields.
- Teach students about injury prevention, emergency medical response, CPR, first aid, anatomy, and other topics related to sports medicine and EMS.
- Facilitate hands-on training and practical learning experiences, including simulated emergency response situations.
- Ensure students are prepared for certifications in CPR, First Aid, and other health-related qualifications.
- Guide students toward career pathways in the sports medicine and EMS fields.
- Collaborate with other CTE teachers to integrate sports medicine and EMS content within broader career readiness programs.
- Track student progress and provide guidance on career and post-secondary education opportunities in healthcare.
Qualifications
- Must be highly qualified in math education, with a strong background in teaching middle and high school students.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution.
- Valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card.
- Passing score on the NES/AEPA exam (if applicable).
- Experience in teaching or leading interventions in math is preferred.
- For Sports Medicine/EMS Teacher: Relevant certifications in Sports Medicine, Emergency Medical Services, or related fields are strongly preferred.
- Ability to teach CTE courses in sports medicine and EMS, including preparing students for certifications.
- Strong organizational, communication, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and collaborate with colleagues.
- Passion for working with both math and CTE students to help them succeed academically and prepare for their careers.
