Position Overview
The Lead Driver (CDL / A) role is a crucial part of the Company's commitment to customer service excellence and food safety. The Lead Driver CDL (A) position will support the Transportation Manager to ensure that drivers and vehicles are in compliance with the Company's safety standards. This position will supervise, train and support CDLA Truck Drivers. The Lead Driver will also drive an assigned company vehicle to make route deliveries, including loading and unloading freight based on customers specifications while providing exceptional service. This position will collaborate and work closely with internal teams to ensure products are delivered to customers in a timely manner, and in compliance with the Company's safety policies, procedures and guidelines, food safety standards and DOT regulations.
Key Responsibilities (Not Limited to the Following)
The Lead Driver position will be aligned with the Company's goals, KPI's (Key Performance Indicators), and sales priorities.
- Supervise, coach and train CDL / A truck drivers
- Conduct orientation and training for new truck drivers
- Supports the smooth and efficient workflow, and provides guidance to drivers and other stakeholders in resolving delivery in a timely manner, and escalates issues for resolution
- Engage with customers to provide exceptional service and support
- Drive company trucks to make route deliveries to customers, which will include loading and unloading freight
- Utilize professional communication skills and strong problem-solving skills for successful deliveries and customer satisfaction
- Communicate with Transportation Manager on maintenance issues and preventative maintenance for truck fleet
- Knowledge and ability to comply with all DOT, FMCSA rules and regulations
- Contribute to the development of best practices and standard operating procedures for drivers
- Complete other tasks, assignments and projects as assigned
